108 Etappe | Bangkok —> Vancouver Teil 1 / Part 1

Kälteschock in Kanada | von ca. 34 Grad kamen wir in Vancouver an mit mindestens 20 Grad kälter | wir mussten durch zwei Immigrations und unser Gepäck holen | nach ungefähr 2 Stunden hatten wir alles durch und sind stolze Besitzer eines Workin-holiday-Visas | wir fanden uns gut zurecht und konnten mit einer S-Bahn bis zu unserem Hostel fahren | die Leute sind freundlich, hilfsbereit und interessiert | dies empfanden wir schon mal als sehr positiv | die Stadt gefiel uns auf den ersten Blick während der Durchfahrt auch ganz gut | aber im Hostel angekommen der nächste Schock | dies ist sowas von heruntergekommen und dreckig | wir checken erstmal ein, weil das nunmal das günstigste war was wir finden konnten | empfindlich sind wir ja nicht, aber dort kamen wir auch an unsere Ekelgrenze | geplant und auch schon bezahlt ist erstmal eine Woche, wir werden sehen ob wir das durchhalten | das Positive daran ist, dass die Leute dort sehr sympathisch sind | zum Großteil leben dort Leute auf längere Zeit, da es so günstig und mitten im Zentrum ist | die ersten zwei Tage hatten wir beide richtigen Jetlag, d.h. wir wachten immer schon total früh auf | so konnten wir aber auch schon die wichtigen Sachen erledigen (Sozialversicherungsnummer, Bankkonto, Autosuche, Handyvertrag etc.) | am dritten Tag wurden wir auch fündig: wir entschieden uns für „Mighty Monty“, ein 25 Jahre alter Chevrolet Astro | die restliche Zeit der ersten vier Tage verbrachten wir sonst mit unseren Mitbewohnern | quatschen, Bierchen trinken | die Menschen im Zentrum sind bunt-gemischt von hip und reich bis total fertig und Obdachlose | das erschreckt uns ganz schön 

Freezing in Canada | we arrived in Canada with 20 degrees less after Bangkok with 34°C | we had to go through two immigrations and get our luggage | after around 2 hours we got everything and were now owner of the working-holiday-visa | we could help ourselves in the new area and came with the metro to our hostel | the people are friendly, helpful and interested | we found this very positive | we like the city on the first view during the metro drive | but as we arrived in the hostel the next shock | that was so dirty and totally done | but we check although in, because that was the cheapest what we could found in town | we are not sensitive, but we were near to throw up | we planned and payed already for one week, so we will see if we can manage this | the positive thing is, that the people there were sympathetic | the people there live mostly for long term because it’s so cheap directly in the centre | both of us had a big Jetlag the first two days, that means we woke up really early | but so we could organize our stuff (social insurance number, bank account, car search, mobile phone commitment etc.) | on the third day we found a car: we chose „Mighty Monty“, a 25 y ear old Chevrolet Astro | we spent our spare time in the first four days with our roommates | chattering, beer drinking | the people in the centre are mixed from hip and rich to totally done and homeless | that shocked us really
