83 Etappe | Whakapapa —> New Plymouth 241km

Nachdem wir gestern so schönes Wetter hatten, regnete es am morgen in Strömen | frühstücken können wir Gott sei dank im Gemeinschaftsraum des Campingplatzes | dann packen wir ganz schnell das Zelt zusammen und fahren los | Ziel ist New Plymouth über den „Forgotten Highway“, eine landschaftlich schöne und bekannte Strecke | diese wurde uns schon von einigen Kiwis empfohlen zu fahren | es regnete leider weiter, jedoch war die Strecke wirklich bombastisch | aber es muss auch vorsichtig gefahren werden | verwinkelte Straßen, zwischendurch auch nicht asphaltiert und großen Steinen im Weg | auf der Hälfte fahren wir durch die autonome Republik Whangamomona | eine kleine schöne Stadt, in der sich die Eltern einen Stempel in ihrem Pass erkaufen können | dort verbringen wir eine Kaffeepause und genießen das gemütliche Flair und beobachten die sich untereinander bekannten Bewohner | in New Plymouth stehen wir an einem mega teurem Campingplatz, aber direkt mit Blick aufs Meer | die Schweizer von gestern sind auch da und so quatschen wir noch den Abend mit ihnen | wir machen auch noch einen Spaziergang am Strand | das Meer ist wild mit seinen unglaublich hohen Wellen und der Sand ist dunkel, fast schwarz | vor New Plymouth sehen wir schon den Berg Taranaki | dieser vulkanische Gipfel dominiert die Gegend und zieht einen quasi in seinen Bann 

After we had so beautiful weather yesterday, it rained a lot in the morning | thank god we had the common room from the campground for breakfast | then we packed our tent and stuff quite fast and start our drive | the destination today is New Plymouth along the „forgotten highway“, a scenic beautiful and well-known route | that was highly recommended by the kiwis | it rained a lot again, but the route was bombastic | but we had to drive carefully | many sharp curves, and in between non-asphalted street and bis stones on the way | at the half way we drove through the autonomic republic Whangamomona | a little nice town, where the parents got a stamp for money in their passport | there we spent time with a coffee and enjoy the comfortable flair and observe the locals that know each other | in New Plymouth we stayed at a very expensive Campground, but with the view on the ocean | the Swiss couple from yesterday stay also there and so we chattered a while at the evening | we made a walk along the beach | the ocean is pretty wilde with high waves and the sand is very dark, nearly black | before New Plymouth we can still see the Mount Taranaki | the volcanic Top dominated the whole area and cast his spell virtually over us
